INSTRUCTOR  BIOS

<<Nick Rifkin

received his B.A. in Anthropology specializing in Archaeology and prehistoric art; including scuplture and pottery at New Paltz University, New York State; My passion in Archaeology and prehistoric art coupled with a deep interest in quantum mechanics created an instant fascination with the Lumetype process when I learned about it. Experimenting with the dualistic nature of light is normally limited to field of advanced physics, but here we can record something as basic as a rock by using the rock as the light-source.  Obviously this piqued my attention and fueled an interest in having the forum to educate others on topics I find valuable, through this revolutionary new type of media to produce ethereal prints of normal everyday obejcts.

                                 Aaron Delehanty>>

Born in Rochester New York, Aaron received his B.F.A from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and an M.F.A in Painting from the San Francisco Art Institute, CA. His work uses the tradition of landscape painting to build ambiguous scenes of human interaction with the earth. He has exhibited throughout Chicago and the Bay Area, his work can be seen in the Patricia Sweetow Gallery in San Francisco. Aaron Delehanty is an emerging artist and painter who lives and works in Chicago.

<<Mary Richards
B.F.A, Columbus College of Art and Design (Glass/Print). Recently Richards began her affiliation with the Bavubuka Girls Projects as the Assistant Program Director and was to head to Africa in September. Unfortunately Richards was recently struck by a car and sustained serious injuries. Her class has been put on hold and our thoughts are with Mary and her family as they work through the healing process.  She is healing well. We hope to resume classes with a healthy Mary as soon as she is able and we regret the recent cancellation of the screen printing class on Saturdays.

<<Caro d'Offay
Director/Curator/Program coordinator at the gallery. B.F.A Kansas City Art Institute, MO. 1996.
In 1998 d'Offay began compiling her research on neurological case-studies of synesthesia (a cross-wiring of the senses) and dementia, the wave/particle duality (of light in Quantum Mechanics) and cancer & the immune system. Over the course of 5 years, d'Offay worked to unify the systems of her focus and emerged with a contemporary printmaking process utilizing secondary light to produce photographic contact prints of objects (plates and blocks) without an enlarger or lens. D'Offay received a patent in May 2004 and opened her first gallery in April 2005.  Her curatorial method is inspired by the wave/particle duality of Quantum Mechanics and the particular role that public space and communication play (providing the "observer"), to reveal larger and more complex underlying structures.  Educational programming, namely Lumetype and Textaport, are at the core of the gallery's identity.
